I'm about 2 hours south of Great Bend at Medicine Lodge, quite a bit out of your way though.  One piece of equipment that I would bring would be an MP3 player and a pretty good list of tunes.  That's going to be a seriously boring ride :P

Yeah, Kansas wind can be a #$%* sometimes,( most of the time!) but you get used to it. I am also working on a k1 cafe. finishing it up, rode it a little today. working out bugs.
I'm in Victoria,ks. Good luck with the project!!!

The wind has been a real PITA this year, its not usually this bad.  Hell it even blew hard all summer, most of the time you can't BUY a breeze when its hot out.  Almost like the wind forgot to leave when March did.

73nancy....I grew up in McPherson. I'm hoping to ride down on May 8th for the May Day Parade. Maybe we can meet up sometime that day. I understand that you have a new shop in town. I need to buy something I'm sure.

I do not have my Honda any longer, and do not check this fourm often, but I would be interested in any "get togethers" or rides, especially into NE Kansas.

Olathe, KS member checking in! ;D

1973 CB500, got it from my G-Pa for free!  Just got it up and running after 25 years but there are still a few bugs that make it not run quite right.  Will get those worked out soon enough.

Good to see another KS rider in the KC area. We all need to get together for a ride some time!

I love your wheels!  I've been thinking of getting away from the spoked wheels.  Where did you get yours?  Are you still tubed?

got any more pics of your bike?  The fairing looks really nice too!

Hey all Kansas members,

We all keep talking about riding, but nothing has happened. I'm heading to Cassoday on Sunday, September 6 2009. Then I will be doing the bikers for Babies ride in KC on Sunday, September 20, 2009. The last big ride will be heading to Fayetteville, Ar. for Blues, Bikes, and BBQ the following weekend, Sept. 25th - 27th.
For the Cassoday ride, I am willing to meet within a 60 mile radius of Burlington. I will take a direct route up I-35 from US-75 to Bikers for Babies, and would be willing to meet anyone east of Burlington ( US-75 HWY ) on my way to Bikes, Blues, and BBQ.
Might be kinda hard to find a cold one on a Sunday, but hey, there is nothing wrong with a good ride. Let me know if anyone is interested and we could work out the details when its closer to time.

Thanks,
Dave

I could probably be able to ride around with you at least one of those weekends. I'm in KC so the Bikers for Babies on the 20th would be pretty easy. Bikes, Blues, & BBQ sounds interesting. What's that all about?

Its a pretty awesome rally, one of the largest from what I hear, I went last year and they say there were 400,000 in attendance.

Thanks,
Dave

New Kansas Member,

Well I'll tell you guys a little something about me. I am 20 years old and love my motorcycle. I live in Chicago Right now, but that is for school. During the riding season I live in Olathe, Kansas. I own a 1975 Honda CB550. I bought it from a friend for 100 dollars, and the owner said it wasn't running. I changed the oil, threw some new gas in it, put a new battery on it and she started right up. Best $100 ever spent. The first picture is what it started out at. The second picture is what she looks like now. I have some big plans for her.  8) She is going to be a complete classic cafe racer. Clip-Ons, Rear Sets, Custom Exhaust, Front Fairing, Back seat redone, new turn signals, pedestrian slicer, as well as engine upgrades. There is so much I want to do to this bike, and it has crazy potential.  ;D Over this next summer any and all of us SOHC lovers should get together and go ride. I ride with a bunch of crotch rocket guys, and thats okay, but I love cruising.

Just got back from Kansas City and Topeka last week.

I was born in Wichita. Most of my family is in or around Topeka now but my mother, grandparents, and great grandparents were all from St. Benedict Kansas up bear the Nebraska state line. I still have family in Seneca, Holton, KC, Lee's Summit, Olathe, Overland Park, Shawnee, and Topeka. My wife's business partners are in Liberty and Lee's Summit outside of KC.

I am trying to talk my parents to move back to Topeka or even greater Kansas City to be close to family now that they have retired. They will not move to the Nashville area near my wife and I so I worry about them not having family near by.  My wife and I have considered moving to Kansas City as we love the city but just can not give up the roots in Middle TN.

Darn now I am craving some Oklahoma Joe's BBQ again...

Giving CPR to this old Kansas thread, it's going to start cooling off soon.  Anyone want to have a fun run and maybe some grub?

I moved from KC to central KS - Russell area - so there aren't nearly as many SOHC4's in my area.

What do you have in mind?
