cb550 tach not working
« on: September 01, 2013, 12:26:15 PM »
I gave my bike a wash today with simple green, a brush, and rinsed  down with a house (being sure to not spray continuously in one spot).

After the wash my tach isn't working, at all. Also my flasher is making a constant, yet quiet, ticking noise (probably not related, the tach is mechanical, right? ).

Any hints on how to hunt down the culprit?

It is mechanical if Honda production.

Check the see if it came unscrewed at the tach.

It's still screwed in. When I get a moment I'll take the cable off. Is there an easy way to see if it's bad?

After that I guess it's not too hard to check the tiny gear on to of the engine?

i'm running one of my 550s without tach.  just removed the cable and tach.  leave to tach gear  housing on the head cam cover
