This might be a stupid question, does anyone know what size of hinge pins I could use on my 1972 CB500, or what else could be used?

That's the Honda part number.  If you quote this to your local dealer he may be able to get you some.  If not, use the number with David Silver Spares or CMSNL or any of the other suppliers in the FAQ.

Hi, I bought two clevis pins from the local Hardware Store works fine

I actually used a screw to get the diameter and lenght. A bit low tech, but it worked.

If I remember right I used a 1/4" bolt on my 550

I am making some for mine. Seems there were a few different sizes as far as length but I measured my diameter at 6mm.

These are still available from places such as Servicehonda, at least for the 750. Perhaps other models as well. Check their online parts look-up.

Mine's got a bent framing nail in one of the spots.  Works okay in a pinch...
