OLD TUBES??
« on: August 16, 2006, 09:24:41 PM »
Hey everybody!!

I recently bought a 1973 CB750 ... then sold it and bought a better (and cheaper) 1974 CB750.  So far I love it and can't wait to get some of the necessities changed.  Which brings me to the point of this post.

The last owner, the second owner, had the bike for over 15 years.  Within those 15 years he put no more then 4 thousand miles!!!  In those 15 years he never changed the tires!!!  I was planning on leaving the tires on since they still have some thread on it ... but decided to change them due to the tire rotting that is occurring on the rear tire.  I've figured out that I'm going to get the S11 tires because of the good things I hear about them here.  What I'm not sure about is if I need to buy new tubes as well??  I figure since the tires I have no do not have any problems with leaks or anything that I'd be okay without new ones ... but I'd figure I'd ask here first since you guys seem to know what you are doing.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Send 'em to me mate, I cut 'em, tie off one end, and use 'em for condoms!  ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Send Terry the tubes!!!!!(Put new ones on your bike along with tires, rim strips & balance). Also not a bad time to check your front/rear brakes and chain/sprockets. Happy motoring!!!!!!!

Tubes are cheap, replace them. Also the rim strips. These and the tires are old, why take chances?  ;)

Bob is right. If you ever bit the pavement because of a tube or rim band failure, you wouldn't even have thought about the few dollars you saved by not changing them. Of course pain and suffering along with lack of consortium, missed work and now a bike that has pavement marks on it, makes these item look really cheap!!!

What's the Australian definition of foreplay? "Brace yourself Sheila!" Or in this case "Brace yourself, Donkey!"
