Newbie looking for some carb insulators!
« on: September 26, 2013, 06:22:55 PM »
Hello all!

I'm new to this forum and to the world of hondamatics.  I recently bought a 1976 cb750a which runs ok, but could benefit from some new carb insulators.  Does anyone know where I can get some?  I've looked everywhere and can't find any.  Any help would be appreciated.

new insulators - pretty much unobtainable.

used ones can be "brought back to life" somewhat - lots of posts on that topic.

some upgrade to older carbs (older boots remain available) - as you get a performance boost as well.

Thanks. That's kind of what I expected.  I'll probably try getting some different carbs then.

I just put on some 75 carbs on my 78 750A. Works good. You will also need to replace the cables.

Be careful using regular coolent hose; it's likely the ethenol will attack it.  The blue automotive hose (silicone??) has been use before, and seems to stand up.

Working well in three MaticĀ“s

+1

And the #1 and #2 insulators work on #3 and #4 (just turned upside down).  Pricey though - I recall them being about $40 a pop.  Still cheaper than another carb set (and insulators for the new carbs).
