Also the stream of oil that came out was just after i filled the hole where my oil gauge is threaded into(1 oclock at the clutch) i might just bite the bullet and start it and hope that by the motor running it will get the oil presser it needs to start the whole oil flow going.

you wouldnt get much oil from the return line because the sump is empty, so theres nothing to pump back up yet. you probably just pumped out what was in there from priming.

If you are sure you filled the spot where the pressure gauge goes, and the pump is primed, run the starter with the kill switch off. Open a tappet cover and you will see oil squirting in there.

How about posting a picture of the bike as it stands - may help us understand what the hell you are up to.

On my '71 750, I cannot get pressure with the bike on the center stand. Put it on the side stand and with 20 seconds of cranking - the red light goes out. No priming/vaseline crap.

I don't get why you are so focused on oil returning to the tank - you just need to see the oil pressure light go out to know you are good to go.
71 or thereabouts 750 K1 - this one should have been put down

Dewd, u r in the same situation I was with my $7000 engine.  I had to fire it up to get pressure and overcome my $7000 paranoia. The way I see it that is your only remaining option. Think of it this way - the more you crank it WITHOUT it starting and building pressure the more you are using up your initial lubrication. Fire that sum#$%* up! It should only take a few moments to get pressure.

This might create a little debate but when you do officially start it do not let it idle too low. Keep it up around 1500 or so and that will allow better oil flow and not strain the new components.
