Just got my carbs rebuilt, inside and out. Now Im trying to get the bike dialed in and having some issues.
Current SetupUni Pods
Mac 4-1
Dyna-s Ignition
Dyna Coils 3-ohm
Good compression
Mains - 75
Needle up one position
top end of motor rebuilt (surfaced, honed, decked, new rings)
Acceleration is okay from stand still out of first.
Problem:Cruising in 4th / 5th the bike surges. Last night after getting the carbs back on I took it for a test ride after synching carbs and setting idle. Cruising around 50mph @ 6K rpm the bike surges. After turning around I came to a stop light about 2.5 miles later the idle was all over the place. I had to catch it with the throttle since it would dip below 1K and then fire up to 3.5-4K. Im thinking it might be starving the motor? Then at the stop light there is fuel slosh.
The rpm's don't change though, the clutch seems to hold doing the "test" from the manual of riding in 4th, pull clutch then let out.
I took the clutch out a while ago, mic'd the plates and they seemed to be in spec. I cleaned up the steel plates as well. Oil is full and I'm using Valvoline 10w40 wet clutch.
