77 750F Clutch Cable routing/securing?
« on: August 25, 2006, 12:58:15 PM »
My clutch cable is melted from contact with the exhaust.  I have ordered a new one.  Where should it be routed to prevent this from happening again? Should I wire or zip tie it to the frame?

Any one got a picture?

Thanks.

Route between the fork ears, behind the headlight, and down the frame tube between #3 and #4 exhaust headers. Zip tie the cable to the frame tube, one tie just above the headers and one down low just before the cable makes the bend back towards the clutch. Sorry no pics but it's pretty simple.

If you're using lowrise bars(stock bars have a 5" rise, low bars have 2" rise) or even drag bars or clubmans then there will be a lot of extra clutch cable to deal with. Motion Pro sells a  -3" clutch cable that fits great with lower than stock bars.
Give me..a frame to build a bike on, and my imagination will build upon that frame

I've got stock bars, thanks.  The PO held it in place before with a very exotic.... piece of coat hanger
