Frame serial and Engine serial?
« on: August 25, 2006, 04:22:35 PM »
As my bike is currently in the for sale section, a gentleman emailed me and asked if it was numbers matching.  After a check, the Frame reads

CB750-2528236

While the engine reads

CB750E-2409645

After looking through things on this site, do these numbers correspond to one another, or should the engine and frame # match exactly.  And does this mean my motor is an early 76 or a late 75?

Got me curious now.

Thanks guys.

Chris.

I've never heard of any matching exactly. Sometimes they are within a couple of hundred.

And sometimes they are off by a thousand or more.

Both engine and frame match '76 750K according to this info

Give me..a frame to build a bike on, and my imagination will build upon that frame

In 30+ years i NEVER seen a Honda with matching numbers and would be VERY suspicious if they did. Also i have only heard of 1 where the engine number was lower than the frame and, despite protestations to the contrary, still suspect that that bike had had an engine swop at some time.

Ok, thanks guys.  Looks like everything lines up for both frame and engine being a 1975.
