CR750 works hubs no longer made by Motocicli Veloci
« on: November 03, 2013, 05:18:29 AM »
I've heard through the grapevine that the Italian company making replica works magnesium CR750 hubs Motocicli Veloci  has stopped making them and hasn't cast any for over a year now, result being if you don't already have one, you won't be getting one. Does anyone know more about this and the reason for stopping production? It'll put the prices up of any spares on the shelf that's for sure...they were the last supplier openly selling replica hubs. Very sad if it is true.

Simon, Do you have one for sale? Did you sell the "deep dish pizza" oil pan? Keith

Turboguzzi,

Please check. I have 2 replica Cr's in work - 1 Daytona version and 1 Endurance version. I would buy 2 of them.

I am on my way to buy an unfinished CR750 replica hub, but some parts is still missing. Anyone who have an idea where I can get the brake band, arms and the center piece on the chain sprocket side?

well, i've seen Massimo today and problem seems to be that his sub-suppliers are not keen on working on less than a 30 pieces batch, so it's more on hold rather than 'no longer'....

guess that if a certain amount of people will commit with deposits, it could help to kick off production of a batch, otherwise it's hard for him to tie up money on a 30 pieces order from foundry, etc, sell ten and then have 20 pcs sitting on shelves for a few years.

Jan, CR replicas, etc. isn't really my stuff, so have no idea about costs, but looking at the other big front brakes in their catlaog i guess it'll be in the 1500-2000 euro.

johno, i am working nowadays on a TZ250/XTZ660 based supermono, so found some odds and ends for the build: a carbon front fender for the 916 fork i use, extra cooling radiators, single plug coils and a complete but rough Aprilia RS250 fairing (for 20 euro!) which will be helpful to test fit before getting a proper one. Would have gone today to search for more stuff but couldn't miss the motogp gran finale.....

The replica hubs were selling for $3500 USD or £3000 GBP before the supply dried up. If you can get one for less than 2000 Euros I'd be amazed. certainly I know one reseller in the UK who was buying them for £2700 GBP so making only 10% profit on them and that was over two years ago.

The problem with the 2LS large rear is two fold, firstly, large parts of it are magnesium so the machining is specialised and secondly, they are as rear hubs go, very complicated pieces.....ain't nothing cheap about a CR750 rear replica hub!

The reaction to rear hub prices is interesting though. I had a genuine works rear hub available for sale some time ago and people were scathing about a £3000 price tag even though the replicas were the same price at the time. Now that £3000 looks like a bargain....
