New with CB 750 KO and some pictures
« on: November 01, 2013, 10:28:54 AM »
Hello,

my name is Uli, I am 53years old and have had HONDAS from 1978 onwards when I made my licence. I stated with a CB 400, came to CB 500 (witth 600ccm engine) to two CB 750 KO in 1981. As a student I restored those two 1969 KO´s (without money and without internet), sold one of them and traded the other one 1984 to a CBX 1000. I drove the CBX for aroung 75 tkm together with a Z1-R until 2003.

Here is an old pick from 1981

I recently purchased a 1970 CB 750 because all the years the KO was anchored in my mind.

Its a One -owner from new, unrestotred but very well looked after machine. The owner just passed away at around 80. Sadly, I could not seek to him, but he must have been a realy CB 750 enthusiast. The machine was still registrated. I got the complete historie.

With the bike I had to purchase a mass of old CB 750 spare parts. Most of them I have to sell to get the space.. and some mones back.

So here are some pictures.

Please have a look and feal free to do some "critisism" because I whant to bring her back to genuine specs (I assume over the years a lot had been changed to keep her running).

As far as I can see the fuel tank is K2 (the genuine wrinkle tank in ruby red is here bt has a dent) and the pipes are 341 not 300.

First pick in the her new garage. I dismanteled that rack (already in ebay..) and changed those chrome - pipe - guards and cleaned her

After a few hours of cleaning

Of course there is "patina".

I made a lot of picks today , please feel free asking me for details to see what should be changed, what is not KO correkt, what would you do....

Thank you for watching,

Uli

Thank you.

Yes, I like them too. They look very oldfahionned. That small red cat´s eyes could have been from a 50th DKW or VW Kübelwagen.

That is a great looking KO there. Congrats on the find and welcome to the forum. Are you going to list some of those items you need to sell. We do have a for sale area on this board. For starters I am looking for a KO chain guard for my current KO project. Again, welcome and great pics there.

Hi John,

thank you for the wellcome.

Regarding the spare parts: believe me, I would realy like to sell them here to help you and other enthusiast to keep those great machines alive.

But.

I am too far away of beeing a CB 750 spezialist.

If I offer them here in the forum, I would have to state a price.

But my problems are: I have to identify the parts, have no or only little idea which year, have no idea oo only little idea of a reasonable price (for me and for the buyer).

That could be very embarassing.

So I starten to put them in ebay hoping, that the gurus will identify the parts and bit on them.

e.g.:

http://www.ebay.de/itm/131033883883?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1558.l2649

Looking forward to place at least one/two item a day.

As far as I can see there is no chain guard.

BTW. do I have the correct chain guard on my bike?

Welcome Sgt.  Very nice bike and good stories.

Looks like the seat has been cut down? Short riders have down this.

As far as not knowing what parts you have, you could post a thread, it's like a game for us trying to identify what year and model specific parts are from.

Hi stev-O,

thank you for the compliment. Yes, i think the one and only previous owner cut the foam down and shortened the belt.

I am thinking about having that one restorred - but I assume that will end up at the price for a new complete seat from yamiya.

Yes Sgt., you have the correct chain guard on your KO there. That is the one I am looking for. Like Steve-o said if you are wondering what a part is post us a pic and someone will know.

The first pic is the speedo box which is on the front right wheel hub. The bottom of the speedo cable goes in there. The 2nd pic is of the right side badge that goes on the right side cover. Those original side cover badges go for nice bucks and come in gold like your bike and black. Which leads me to note on your KO there someone switched those side cover badges around on you. The Wing should be forward. Someone is reproducing those side cover badges, but the OEM is desired. What is this stuff worth? You would have to go on eBay and see what it is going for.

Sorry, should have read your post better. It looks like the same unit on all my early K models. You could go on a parts fische and check the part numbers to be sure they all cross reference for all those years.
