  • So, what do ya wanna talk about today?
I can't decide, and for $100K I won't be lining up for one anyway.  :-\

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

If they went more the way of creating a brand spanking new tech bike that looked like the orig..heck yeah. That redesign captured the figure but not the essence. Like I would rather a Kawasaki Nomad over an Indian.....wait. I am now confused. Either way it is stupid money. Just buy a Chang Jiang that looks like an old Beemer......

Well I'd much rather a new Indian Joe, and one day I will have one, but I have no love for that Brough, it's well designed and I presume it actually runs, but to be honest, the old Brough looks way "Superior", IMHO. ;D

you couldn't buy an old one for double that any more , not sure if i like the look of it either but having the engine made in france should make george brough turn in his grave .

I think it's a mistake on their part to leverage the Brough name.  Brough motorcycles have been held in high esteem - almost reverence for the bikes - and I can't see these new bikes coming close to that.

I can't see it generating sales just because of the name, but I can see it turning people off because of the name.

Yep, agreed Jeff, I had the opportunity to steal two SS100's and a 750 (what was the 750 version called?) from the Birdwood Motor Museum many years ago, and as terrible as that sounds, if I hid them well enough I'd be out of jail by now and their value would outstrip my retirement savings by a multiple of 100. Oh well, as long as I can afford parts to keep my CB750 going, I suppose it doesn't matter........ ;D

having a well known name does seem to help sales , john bloor bought the triumph name for his new bikes , stuart garner the norton name for his and polaris have resurrected the indian name despite already having the victory brand . these bikes will sell to the type of people who will love telling everyone they own a brough , one of the most exclusive brands in motorcycle history

Yep, and while it can be argues that as Indian, Triumph and Norton were only "Cooking Models" compared to the Brough's "Rolls Royce" pedigree, the most faithful to the design brief is the new Indian, and at around $30K for the base model (the one I like the best, anyway) the price is fair compared to the new Brough.

Personally, I can see the new Brough going the way of Hesketh, not that the Hesketh was 3 times the price of it's nearest competitor. I hope the Brough doesn't have the mechanical issues that Hesketh had, or it's doomed....... ;D

I wanted one when they first came out mate, they weren't that bad then, they just had some niggling overheating and gearbox problems, and I'm sure they've been ironed out by now. Cheers, Terry. ;D
