Phenolic brake pistons

Are these items still available, and are they superior in real-world use compared to stainless pistons?

I had forum member Kevin400F make a pair for me back in 2011.  I'm no expert but the material is light and doesn't rust or corrode.  They've worked well for me so far.

Yes and yes.  Phenolic pistons were developed around racing applications in the early 70's and application proven based on advantages such as superior heat insulation, high mechanical strength, weight reduction, and corrosion resistance.  They come standard on a number of current production automobiles and trucks.

I've been running one in mine for a few years. I like it. Way lighter and it won't corrode. Supposed to not conduct heat as well and give you more consistent braking. I'm actually in the process of tracking another one down for my other caliper I've added to my 500.
