Greetings. Been lurking for a little while and finally made the commitment.
The vitals: been riding for about 35 years, including the dirt bike days as a kid. The current stable consists of a '99 Ducati Monster 750 as a daily driver/commuter/quick-twisty-grabber and a non-running '72 CB350F which should be going under the wrench for restoration soon. I see the Monster as a sort of modern day Cafe bike - very minimalist, mechanically simple (well, as simple as the Italians can make it), lightweight and relatively cheap to operate.
The 350F was originally intended to be converted to a race bike for AHRMA events but, after my dad and I spent a great weekend at the Barber Vintage Festival this year, I've changed tack and now plan to restore it to a period-correct cafe racer for the street.
My dad still rides at 71 years young and has a couple of CB750's. One of which actually runs
While I love the new bikes, the vintage stuff has always appealed more to me. As an aircraft technician by trade, I'd rather have something I can work on and fix on my own rather than depending on a dealer or computer diagnostic tool.
Looking forward to "meeting" everyone, checking out some great motorcycles and learning a few things.
Cheers!
