gasket goo needed? 78 750F top end

Today is the day!  the top end reassembly  is finally here. Everything is spotlessly clean and all old parts are within spec or have been machined or replaced.  Have all new gaskets and o-rings. 
    Question - have 1104 if needed, but I'm spooked about oversquish and oil channel plugging, Do I really need it  anywhere?  Where?        Thanks,   Dave

hi, have used gasket goo b4 with no side effects, just use VERY sparingly and let goo semi cure b4 assembly, good luck mate  ;D

No goo on my 500. No leaks either. Doesn't look to me like Honda used any sealant, at least on my top end, so I don't see any reason to second guess them.

  I've always used, and recommended, some Hylomar around the oil return holes. I also use some around the oil feeds to the top. I would add that I use very little especially with heavy duty studs. Some 1104 around both would be OK in my experience but the key words are very little. Use the 1104 on the rubber discs under the cam towers too...once again ...a little goes a long ways. I absolutely think some sealent is necessary ESPECIALLY with stock stud torque #'s. I've used 1104 on FJ engines on the oil feed from the base gasket and never had a problem with blockage etc......in fact the leak if you don't. Like I said....put it on THIN.

just make sure it's  non-hardening goo...yamabond or permatex make good stuff 8)

Hey Dave, just what is 1104? I've always been sold on permatex aviation sealant but would like to know
what else is out there.

   Easy decision with the general consensus, so I used it sparingly and thinly around oil passageways, outside of the o-rings, both sides of gaskets.   Noel - good point about the gooless original factory assembly -  I used aftermarket gaskets and this was my first rebuild so I figure I needed to be cautious - really don't want to remove and disassemble the engine again soon.  Actually was surprised how easy the reassembly was, kind of like a big Lego set but with more different shaped pieces.
  RM - 1104 Threebond liquid gasket semi-drying sealant, 3.5oz for $5.94 from Z1 Enterprises Thin grey stuff, sets quickly, much different working properties than silicone. As was said, if left for a bit before putting together, it seems like it won't ooze very far when torqued.
  Just a few more days... ;D
