650C gasket set
« on: January 01, 2014, 09:54:09 AM »
Hi everyone, long time lurker finally made an account. Im looking to do a top end rebuild on my 1980 CB650C. It leaks oily sludge out the typical area of the head. I was planning on taking the motor out and taking it apart in the processes to soda blast the cases and other parts and do upper and lower cylinder gaskets all the O rings, the pucks in the head, and the valve seals. I was looking into the gasket kit that parts n more has, has anyone ever used this with good or bad results? And did it have all the gear needed to do the job?

Thanks, Christian.

What brand kit they have?  I've used athena and honda.  And another that started with a H I believe.  Dont remember the name of it.  All seemed good.

It doesn't list a actual brand all it tells me is (High Quality - Made In Italy) I've read about poor fitment from athena but I have used there small engine gaskets with no problem before.

Go with Honda brand, and make sure to apply some gasket sealer to bth sides of the pucks.

Yeah Tom I think I'm going to stick with the oem set up. I've read of people having worse leaks after a rebuild from using Athena kits.

Maybe some people need excuses.  I've used 2 athena kits and no problems.

I did question it myself cb. I've used athena gaskets and belts for scooters before and never had a problem, I liked them. And its easy for me to get a hold of a Athena kit than order oem. Maybe Ill give it a shot.
