750K Carb Reassembly
« on: January 08, 2014, 02:46:40 AM »
I have finally nearly finished cleaning the all the carb parts and have the rebuild kits but as they wont be fitted and used for while was wondering if the seals etc will dry out if the carbs sit on the shelf for what could easily be several months?

Seals will be fine few month for sure.

I wrap my carbs after cleaning in Stretchtight against mainly mud daubers and shelf them.

Are you using aftermarket jets, needles and other brass bits ? Don't toss the stock stuff, you may like it better.

When I store carbs, I usually squirt a little Seafoam (you can get it in a spray can) in them and put them in one of those large ziplock bags.
Yep, I'm the kid that figured out how to put things back together...eventually.

Yeah the kits are after market, I had read somewhere to keep the originals. The engine is getting an 836 kit and was actually expecting to have to increase the jet sizes.

Seafoam, is that anything like WD40? I like the Ziplock bag idea.

seafoam is a fuel, and oil treatment.
it allows water to be burned with the fuel, and aids in removing and preventing fuel varnish.
