Didn't Jay stop at +5 mm on a stock crank due to oiling concerns? That crank of yours is at +7...? It may run for short periods of time, but I'd be less nervous starting with the 900f 69 mm stroke crank. Oh wait, you've already got one of them. I think that Frank's already drooling over the thought of a drop in stroker for his bike.

Now how did i get drug into this project?? Well, i'll accept some responsibility- i let you ride my bike on purpose. Its hard to explain what it feels like to have a purpose built chassis with a decent motor unless you experience it yourself. You got a small taste of it in Bradenton in the pits without sufficient traction- imagine a full pass down the 1320.

Not certain what that engine is going in but build a chassis that will handle ALL of the power and still be rider friendly so that anyone can ride the thing even if they have no prior race skills. IF you have to fight the chassis, you will never allow the engine to show its full potential.

I'm looking forward to seeing how this turns out for you.

Be prepared to replace rod bearings at least once a season.
Regular oil changes (oil pan drain plug open) will be a must to check for brass.

Thanks to all. Frank, going be relying on you.....cause I'll need to! The cylinders on the bench and pistons @ 73mm. So 73mm bore and 70mm stroke. Mike Rieck cyl head Stage IV.......and some big mixers(only got 29's rt now, need some 34's or 36's!
Chassis to be determined....but it will go in a purpose built drag bike. Thinking of the K frame raked from Pena, and RC club foot swingarm to start. Or rake '77F frame(Frank?) and use that NOS Tracy body with the chrome RC Clubfoot swingarm.I think I better get to work! lol. Sam you still BELONG over here.....at least this year!  ;D C'mon man! I double on Mikes advice of having it checked out really good
they did that on my crank and had it nitrided also.
I just did some touch up work on a stroked crank that was welded
and was surprised at how porosity was on the bearing surfaces

good luck

73 x 70 is the legendary 1180! (approx)  Mine turned out to be 69 x 72, 1124 I think.

We just had a 9.5mm in here that was cracked everywhere you could fit a crack.   It came with a set of golden rods that had big ends too far out of round to use.

Bill,

I say go as big as you can on the motor size. We've got more years behind us than ahead so we need to reach out for all the thrills we can fit into our remaining days.

BILL: I looked in my parts room and could find only the 34's FS and a set of 40's FS = I think I sold the 36's to a guy in INDY at FAST LANE CYCLES.
The 34's are like brand new and have new stacks on them , these carbs are all stored in a heated room, sealed in plastic shrink wrap and WD40. My nephew bought these 34's brand new and then we switch his KZ BIKE over to LECTRONS and I bought them from him = he used them one season......
Lesson I learned about big carbs on KZ1000+ if you go to big then you keep jetting down all weekend = little smaller carbs same jets all weekend more power and leaner running in PRO/ ET from 8AM. to 11.30 PM. [ FINAL ROUND ]  MORE CONSISTENT  + or - dial in shifting at 10,500 rpms.
