Anybody know if these fit 750's as well? Can't remember if 500/550 & 750 are the same size....

Same size.... ;)

Would you say the truck-light is brighter than an H4 bulb? I have an H4 on my 77 and while its an improvement over stock I'd love it to be brighter, I have a small fly screen and the H4 sits in a bit. So I'm thinking the led might be flush or sit proud maybe 1/4".

here you go.
Waaaay brighter than my old H4. The pattern is different than your typical round headlight. You get a horizontal strip of white light cast cross the field. this shot was taken with the white board about 10' away

You saved $512 :D haha

Looks identical to the Truck-Lite, in a different box, for $80 more.

In the UK we have a test for beam pattern that would keep the bike of the road if it failed. Does the US have such a thing?
'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Draw and drawer. Could care less/couldn't care less. Bought/brought FFS.

Is it me or does the beam pattern shown in the photo above - reply #27 - look quite narrow? Is it really better than a H4 bulb/headlight that has a more diffuse brightness? I dont see it...

the beam is much different than a conventional reflector. The pattern is meant to illuminate the road ahead without blinding the other drivers. you can adjust the throw by moving your bucket up or down. The picture was taken by my crappy cell camera which doesn't compensate for aperture, white balance, etc. I had an H4 bulb which cast a muted, yellow light due to the crappy charging systems on the 550s. The major reason I got the LED was the low draw @ 12.8v, 1.80a (low beam), 3.60 amps (high beam)
and it is the same brightness whether it is idling or revving past 3k where the system finally begins to make a decent charge.

So 23 watts at low and 46 watts on high beam. I think I might skip getting an H4 bulb and separate lens and skip to this truck LED light.
What is the most reasonable one out there that will fit our bikes?

Truck-Lite 27270C is the one for our bikes, there are some on Amazon for $186 right now.

The beam shot above doesn't really do it justice, when the bike is on the road, there is plenty of spill light down onto the ground down in front and to the sides directly surrounding the bike.  Once mine is back together I'll get some shots of it.  I don't have any stock-output shots to compare to but I'll do my best to get as close to real world brightness and color!

Also, I agree 100% with the above statement.  With the stock sealed beam, as I came to a stop and the revs dropped the light got even MORE dim.  With the LED light, it is very bright from idle to riding around back to idle, no change in output (until you flick the HI on ;)  )

Yikes, I think I'll have to wait until prices come down a little.
I just bought 78 GL forks and triples by accident on the fleapay and I have to figure out how to remedy that mistake.

Sorry to comment on such an old post but I just bought the Trucklite 27270C and am having a bit of a problem mounting it.

One of the replies said that all he needed was longer screws.  I'm failing to see how longer screws helped mounting this in the bucket?

It's possible that i don't have an OEM bucket.  I've owned my bike for a year and the more I do with it the more I realize almost nothing is what it should be...

Just mounted the truck lite in my 78 550. No issues at all and no need for longer screws. Also if anyone is looking Drive America has trucklites for 170 shipped which is better than anywhere else I've found.
