I had already done 200miles with an o-ring chain fitted when Dave set me straight about this (big thankyou to Dave500), I thought while I had the cover off to fix an oil leak I should take a pic of the damage that running a DID brand o-ring chain did do did do! As well as the damage to the crankcase and seal near the sprocket shaft, note at the very top of the pic where it took a bite and bottom left where it was also rubbing! When turning the wheel by hand this chain DID NOT rub at all- but clearly at highway speeds it definately does- I had maybe a quarter of a teaspoon of engine crankcase aluminium dust in the bottom of the cover!
I now have a brand new oring chain and a 200mile old one that I can't use on my bikes - anyone want 'em?
