OK, tried a few things and though not perfect, she's idling and running pretty good.
Few more questions:
I moved the clip on the needle all the way to the bottom most position and have gotten the best results from that. Midrange power seemed to improve with every position I moved the clip lower, but she doesn't really open up until about 6,500 rpms
Is there any way to have it go any further? Can I put a shim or washer under the clip to raise the needle any further? I'd like to see if that helps any more.
I noticed that the slide on carb number 4 was closed all the way when at rest. The other 3 were a little less than an 1/8th of an inch open. So I visually adjusted carb 4 to about that much. It idles much, much better now! I can't wait until I get my syncing tool in the mail!
When syncing the carbs, this is basically the procedure? Syncing just has the slides on the carbs uniform?
WOT from a rolling start will still bog the motor.
Is this something I have to live with? I'm sure that is not the case.
After hunting down some SeaFoam additive, I ran it through the carbs and threw some in the gastank. It sure did smoke a lot! I can't comment on how effective it was because I recently rebuilt the carbs and was very thorough. I couldn't hurt though.
Again, Thanks for all your help!
P.S. - After 6,500 rpm's, she's a screamer!!! Pulled to 100mph in no time at all. Will I be sacrificing top-end power by getting rid of the pod filters?
