Cb750 difference in front axle
« on: February 01, 2014, 08:20:33 AM »
I was taking apart the wheel on my 78k and had some trouble disassembling the axle. Its apart but the two flat spots where the wrench fits is now rounded off. I don't know if I should try to touch it up with a hand file or get another one. However I noticed this axle is different than the one on my 73k. The one on the 73 has a hole for a screw driver to fit in and use a handle as you use a wrech on the other side. I like that design better and if I need to replace mine I would rather get one of these.

Does anyone know if the axle with a hole will fit a 78k? Is one better than the other?

This is old 70 or 73 K axle next to 78F.

The only difference is longer thread on K, the K axle fits in F wheel.

Ok great. How about dressing up the rounded off edges with a file so a wrench will go back on it. Other than it needing a smaller wrench would this be bad.  Trying not to spend money if I don't have to.

I would not be afraid to file it down to next size wrench, I say go for it.

Or post in parts I am looking for - I am sure somebody has axle for cheap.
