newbie wiring clean up question
« on: March 03, 2014, 11:41:05 AM »
About to clean up all the connections before I put loom back on  the bike.

don't want to put a dirty loom back on a freshly powder coated frame

How do you guys clean up the crimped on plastic covers( or remove ) to get to connectors inside and also get the male  and female blade connectors  from inside the block connectors out to clean ?

thanks

I use a ceramic nail file that has been ground down in width to fit the female spade connectors.  It works OK on the males too.  I use a .177 caliber rifle brush chucked in a cordless drill to clean the female bullet connectors and sandpaper to clean the males.  Its a good cold beer project you can take your time on.  I blow them out with air after the abrasive work and rinse with contact cleaner.  I then crimp the females closed for a snug fit.  ++++1 on removing them from the block connectors.  Its a little difficult until you get the hang of how to release the locking catch for them.

My connectors were a hundred times worse than those pictured. I cleaned them with vinegar and a toothbrush without taking them apart.
'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Draw and drawer. Could care less/couldn't care less. Bought/brought FFS.
