throttle linkage?
« on: February 05, 2014, 09:42:07 AM »
Hi,first time poster...
  So I finally got my first classic bike. the night i got it it had a blown tail light, but it made the ride from San Antonio to Austin with out a hitch. But now it seams that it wants to fight me at every corner, it has started to have a bad backfire on the deceleration and a miss in the acceleration. This has been going on for about a week now. so I started checking things, at this time i noticed that #3 cylinder is cold, but there is a some gas on the plug so I swapped wires with #2... same thing.

so now im looking in to the carbs, i will start cleaning them this week end, but when i pulled the tank i noticed that the throttle linkage (i assume this is what its called)  is cracked on #2 carb... but #3 is the cylinder that is not working... this confuses me.

What bike would it be?

Seems the carbs need to be taken apart and cleaned, they look neglected.

time to learn and complete all of the 3000mi maintenance items.
The shop manual lists these steps, and is available for download from this forum.
most of the basic issues can be remedied by doing this....
'78 750K (F3 engine) PD42b's, Modified airbox w/K&N  filter, 40/110 jets, 1 needle shim, IMS@ 1 turn out. Kerker + Cone 18" QuietCore

http://www.cmsnl.com/honda-cb750-four-k3-usa_model481/partslist/E++25.html#results

Once you know the parts you need, there are numerous domestic sources for the parts. ;-)

I have look at multiple Carburetor schematics, and they all refer back to #13  "Plate Set,stay". problem is that i don't need the whole set stay... plus according to all the sites i have searched for this part number state "Product is not available" or "no longer in production" I have found the complete set stay on ebay but it was for a K model not a F...

I'm trying to find out what the part that links the throttle cables to the throttle rod is called.
