Cannot wait to get this party started...it runs and is complete...definatly needs some electrical help but I stole this for $350 so excited to learn from you folks.Gonna be a typical resto mod like many ive seen on here....hoping to be able to maybe do a few things nobody has seen before just to make it mine

Nice buy.  That is one awesome rat's nest full of splices and wire nuts.  Gotta love that "good enough for now" mentality when it comes to motorcycle maintenance.

First priority is safety and reliability...suspension,brakes,bearings,electrical,ignition,etc...then ill shake it down for the summer and prepare for the big tear down next winter.I do plan on painting it and body work next winter but I must say I actually really dig the old paint, so it will be a cafeish rat for the summer.Im really excited about the possability of making some of my own parts and modding it a bit. Nothing to drastic but for me thats where the fun is at.I have a couple ideas of things I want to try that ive never seen or heard of but they will be a surprise for later  and are just cosmetic...she will be a one of a kind, as hard as that is givin the amount of beautiful bikes you guys have all built.

Consider buying a new wiring harness. Sure, yours can be fixed, but it will never be like new.

No doubt about it a new harness is very high on my list of priorities.Probably next actually.Like everyone these days the wallet is gonna determine when why and how on this build.I havent done any work on her yet but have purchased my first parts....carb rebuild kits,fork seals, and brake pads front and rear.Unfortunately we have lots and lots of snow on the ground and its trapped in my buddies greenhouse,bit soon very soon ill get to tackle my project

I always start a new project by clean clean cleaning, costs very little.

For sure Stevo....this old girl needs one hell of a bath....it was living under a tarp outside frozen in a snow bank.....and cleaning is almost free and anyone can do it...actually thanks for reminding me...thats something I can do as it sits

Seems stupid and silly but its easy to get so excited about the bike and the dreams of its potential its pretty easy to forget i could have been scrubbing instead of just planning and throwing money at it....hard to tell how good or bad it really truly is until thats done....sincerely thanks again stevo for helping keep my feet on the ground.

Was just curious what you guys are using for aftermarket handle bar controls...Lookin for something a little cleaner than the stock components.
