Which fork to fork with??

I have a stock 78f  ;D and want to improve handling and fit larger tire and wheels on her. I have access to a 79f would switching out parts (fork and swing arm) do any good?  ??? Would it be a straight bolt on or lots of mods. I did search but am still very confused about what will and will not fit?

Any, any help would be cool and appreciated!!!

I had to use 79f forks on my 78f cause I had bad pitting on the originals. The only difference I saw was that they were about 1.5" longer. The fender mounts were also set up a little higher meaning that the final fender install was a little higher from the wheel. Not sure that the 79f forks will help you in getting what you want for handling or bigger wheel. someone else might see it differently.

Like Nuke says, they're virtually the same forks/swingarms, so no advantage. Most modern forks/swingarms will fit with the appropriate mods, it just depends on how deep your pockets are. Cheers, Terry. ;D

Thanks all for the info. I knew this would be the place to get the answers!!! ;D

1.5 inches longer just makes the bike taller and more than likely not handle as well. That’s not what I am looking for. I was just trying (for cheap) to get some larger wheels and tires on the bike.

Any other ideas on how that can be done?  ???
