Tool Kit CB550
« on: March 29, 2014, 04:40:19 AM »
Here is an easy one. Where do you keep the tool kit on a CB550? Was looking on the bike to see if one was hidden away, if not there and I get one, where does it go on the bike?
thanks

Right here in the tool tray/filter cover. You can download an owner's manual from this site, or purchase one on ebay. Very much worth having and full of this kind of info.

Under the seat. At the back of the seat there is a plastic flap secured by two wing nuts.
Tool roll goes there.

Thanks, mine does not have a tray like that over the air filter, I could find no particular place to put it.
That's why I thought it may go some other place. It's a 76 550F Super Sport.

The F models have it on the seat as p!pe stated above. Do you have the stock seat?

The plastic holder/flap may be missing. See if there are 2 studs there. I may have the flap here somewhere.

Have a plastic flap there on under side of the seat held on with two screws, I read it was a document holder, opened it up, seemed to small for a tool kit. Will take apic.

Was thinking about getting a tool kit, but seems there is no room, so won't bother I guess.

The document holder is near the center of the seat bottom. The tool kit goes in the rear of the seat bottom under the plastic flap that is held closed by two wingnuts, part #5 here

Here is the Tool Kit Pocket at the top of the pic.  You can see the doc. holder in the forefront.

Thanks all, found it and the flap is still there, well I'll be, would never of looked there, never seen one like that before. But bad luck, no tool kit, so will have to get one to complete the bike, another part on the list.

Can see that, you would only get your licence in the document flap. But I got both tool and document. When I have and extra few dollars to spare and my wife is not looking, will get a tool kit as everything else is still on the bike, so will complete the job, icing on the cake.

Like to get the Honda kit, this bike is an origional survivor and are trying to keep it that way best I can. Seem to be a few on ebay. But with the new pipes, tyres, seals, polish, rego , getting carbies done insurance etc, the tools will have to wait. I want to get this thing on the road and ride! Straight up to Stanwell Tops look out where the hen pecked Husbands hide every morning with thier true two wheeled lovers!

Much appreciated Dave, but I seen them on Ebay from $50 up, be best just to get the lot together, so a nice shiny set will be the icing on the cake. Not that I will ever use them, just be good that they are there. I am sure there would be another forum member who would use them to complete a set.
Again I do thank you for your generous offer, but I would rather they go to somebody who really needs them. No offence to you I hope.  :)
