I think they were from a comic called "Keep on Truckin"  and it's a blast seeing some one keeping it alive!  8)

His name is R. Crumb and he was very popular when I was in College. From Wikipedia:

Robert Dennis Crumb (born August 30, 1943), known as Robert Crumb and R. Crumb, is an American cartoonist and musician. His work displays a nostalgia for American folk culture of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and satire of contemporary American culture. His work has attracted controversy, especially for his depiction of women and non-white races.
The guy was iconic back in the day.

But we were boys, and boys will be boys, and so they will. To us, everything was dangerous, but what of that? Had we not been made to live forever?

I liked the Freak brothers better; Mr. Natural was pretty raunchy by comparison. ;) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Furry_Freak_Brothers

I greatly expanded my appreciation of human nature and illustration, beginning in the spring of 1970, sitting on the padded, dayglo green toilet seat at People's Cycle, perhaps the first east coast used motorcycle parts and repair shop.
The bathroom had a full selection of Zap comix, which featured Mr. Natural, and a variety of other characters including bikers, Fritz the cat, many naked women, an even Crumb himself.
A formative experience for me, as I continue to use bathrooms to this day..

Album Cover by R. Crumb:

This is a classic in all respects. To hear Janis singing "Summertime" is to feel the very soul of the song. I don't think most of the flower children in the audience knew about the Gershwin Brothers, but they dug the vibe none the less. Live material from the Fillmore Auditorium seems fresh today and still has a strong bluesy feeling. The woman grabbed those words from deep within and you felt her powerful voice project throughout the room. The R. Crumb cover has become an icon of the 60's and has been copied numerous times. The back cover photo was intended to be the front cover, but sometimes things just don't work out that way. And remember kids, it's approved by the Hell's Angel, 'Frisco.

My dad got into Janis Joplin after hearing that album! Before that, he was more into Harry Belafonte, the Limelighters?, and I don't recall the others right now. Probably the best thing I and my siblings learned from our father was an appreciation of music.

'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Draw and drawer. Could care less/couldn't care less. Bought/brought FFS.
