Fuel tank cap repair
« on: May 07, 2014, 05:39:03 PM »
Hello,
I am looking to sort out an issue I have with the fuel tank locking latch
The catching piece of metal is not there and I am guessing if I can replace it completely with a different cap.

Thanks

Why not just buy the missing part?

Edit:   Oh, the tab is broken, missed that.

It's welded and the welded part is broken off.  A pro could fab a new tab and weld it on. The safety guy will say no.

It is brazed on. The left tab is broken off.  You might get  one from a doner tank. There are plenty of bad tanks out there but you will need to repaint after the repair.

How about a new,  different cap.
Something like the one in the picture.

Thanks

I don't think that will work the fueling neck on the tank has nothing for that type of cap to latch on to.
