Topic: I brought home a free CB125

Sold the CB750 yesterday and needed a little pick-me-up. A friend had a '75 CB125S sitting behind the tractor and told me I could have it! Under 1100 miles and complete but for mirrors and side covers. I'm stoked. It has decent compresion but the tank inside is pretty rusted. This thing looks so simple compared to the 750.

they are a breeze to work on. there used to be a "big bore kit" available for them, took them out to 148cc if my fading memory hasn't let me down

1cyl, 1carb, doesn't get much more simple!  Unless you get rid of the vaves...

There's a guy on e-bay, down in Brazil or somewhere that's selling new side covers for 125's.  I kept hoping he would step up to either my 175 or 550, but nothing last I looked.

I looked at those. The "gold" badges looked a little cheesy so I passed. I would rather look for some OEM. I've been looking at Airtech bodywork CR110 stuff. Pretty cool and could always save the street parts. Would be fun to show up for a track day with a 30 year old 125

His competition ranged from a Cagiva 650 thru to a couple of HD 1100's and all sorts in between, all race prepped to varying degrees. It pissed down all day and the horsepower game was no longer the king. funniest thing I've ever seen on the race track

I bought a bunch of 175 stuff off a guy from Montreal that has been racing vintage small-bore Honda for years.  He sent me some pictures, cool stuff.  Ran pretty much anything up to a 350 twin.  I guess he was doing good until he crashed and broke himself up pretty bad.  He was getting out and selling off earlier this year, right around the time I got my 175 so I had a mini-field day.  He doesn't have anything listed right now (e-buy: ve2rq)  - maybe it's all gone - but he was great.  I bought a couple of air filters and he ends up throwing in a bunch of extras he had; buy 1 set get several sets.  Ditto with some headlight ears & seals.  Maybe he has some of the racing bodywork left?
