Cycle X "Super" Kits?
« on: June 02, 2014, 08:36:37 PM »
Can anyone comment on the "Super" gasket set, or "Super" top end gasket set from Cycle X?

I've heard good reviews on here about their basic gasket set, which does include more than most "complete" sets.

The MLS head gasket and alloy foamet gaskets are appealing.

I bought the Super Top End for my build. It was a good set, but the engine was not started yet, all I can testify is that it worked well for the assembly.

I took the head off many times, trying to figure out the cam clocking and the MLS gasket held it's own through all the tinkering.

I also checked their pucks against the head and they were thick enough to seal well.  There is a thread here about puck thickness, not all pucks are created equal and pucks too thin leak.  The puck compression should be - hmm, at least 30%??? - the correct number escapes me now.

I used the super top end gasket kit on my build this winter had everything I need for my 750K2 EXCEPT the 4 O rings underneath the cam towers, the two for the jets and the 2 for the blind return holes on the other side. I had spares laying around from a #$%*ty Athena kit. Other than that, I recommend. I have about 1500 miles on the build and zero leaks. We'll see how long that lasts.

FWIW I did re torque my nuts just out if precaution even though they say you don't need to. Also, I kept my stock studs, if your budget allows go with the HD studs.

The Cycle X site says the top-end kit includes 4 Cam Tower o-rings. Maybe yours got left out?

Those o-rings, and the oil pump o-rings should be pretty common metric sized o-rings, right?
Or are they different?
