Should be obvious as to why, LOL.

Did this to my CB750 not too long ago. HDD magnets look a little better, but do the same job:

Good to see that this simple "mod" works!

Hahaha, skeptics will always be just that. Even when looking at evidence of why something works or is a good idea.

The deposits wiped off like an oily powder.  It'd pass right thru the filter element.

I posted a little about what i found in my first oil change
http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=137902.msg1557668#msg1557668

I didn't run the magnets on the first pass (didn't think about it at the time), but i have them in now. The first pass will catch the most.

Most skeptics I have known are complete fcuking retarded fools that have heads like a brick, nothing goes in and for that reason alone, nothing worthwhile comes out.... ::)  If its a communication break down then i understand, if its not its one of the stupidest questions i have seen on this forum.

the magnets are a good way to guage the running in,the debris diminishes rapidly, change the oil very early twice during the first couple of runs.

...is a good thing.

Looks like what you find in the pan of an auto transmission. Its good to get that crap out of your oil. Its slow death to the engine...like real fine valve lapping compound. As long as you aren't getting chunks its a good thing!

I hear ya Dave. It's cheap insurance. I put 350 heads on a 327 years ago. I was real anal about the whole job because it was mine...not a customer job so I was able to take my time and keep everything real clean. Got everything spic & span before pulling intake and heads. I wasn't doing the bottom end so I had to keep everything up top clean while preparing gasket surfaces. I used lots of rags, brake clean, vaccum with hose reduced down small. Before it went back together I poured around a gallon of diesel through the intake valley and each cylinder. I really took my time but it came out good. I drained out the diesel and whatever it picked up on the way down put on new primed oil filter dumped in 5 qts. and fired it. Let it fast idle for a bit.....coupla quick revs let it drop to idle and shut it down. Dropped the fresh oil which was awful looking and swapped out oil and filter again. After that I like to just keep an eye on it for for a few days/miles. Looking for leaks.....make sure the level is good and the oil is clean. I've worked at shops that had me give the car back to the customer and have them bring it back after so many miles to get it's first change. I used to just cringe!!!
