How do I know if I have the right Carbs?
« on: September 21, 2006, 11:42:08 AM »
Hey guys. Just decided 3 days ago to get my 78 CB750K goin again. This time almost total tear down. This time I want to get everything right, as she's not my daily driver. The carbs is where I'll start. So, how can I distinguish if I have the right carb on my bike? I have 2 sets(one from a parts bike that ran). I'd like to find out so I can order the carb kits. Got alot more questions to come before it's all over in hopefully a year and a half. My fiance wants me to have it finished to ride off at the church at our wedding. (Cool fiance huh?) Thanks in advance -  Javi       Savannah, Ga

Give us the VIN and Engine Number of your bike so that we can check the model and year.

Then tell us what the number stamped on the carbs indicates. There are tables of carbs/models.

Take it from there.

Carb #'s are stamped into each carb body, just above and behind the manifold rubbers.  77-78 carbs have a cable operated choke, earlier carbs don't.
Give me..a frame to build a bike on, and my imagination will build upon that frame

So that's a K8 (see here: www.sohc4.us/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=39&Itemid=44 )

You'll feel at home here as there are quite a few active members with K8s...

and you should have PD42B carbs (se here: www.motorcycleproject.com/motorcycle/text/specs.html )
