After researching I found this:

From the CB500 service manual for spring length

standard value 451.7mm (17.78")

servicable limit 425mm (16.73")

If you cut those springs they may fit better but will be stiffer, that's not the answer. One solution is Racetech for $125.

So I guess I'm in good shape

Are they stock or progressive? Stock is straight rate

Aftermarket tends to be shorter than stockers and service limits don't apply
The dirty girl-1976 cb750k, Ebay 836, Tracy bodykit
Round top carbs w/ 38 pilots, middle needle position, airscrew 7/8ths out, 122 main jet
Stock airbox w/ drop in K&N, Hooker 4-1

Don't trust me alone with a claw hammer and some pliers

Not sure.... Can you tell if it's stock or not from viewing pic?
