I have a black stock painted tank off a 1978 cb550. These are known for the clear coat to bubble and start to peel.

Is there a process with wet sanding that I can do to restore this tank to something somewhat presentable? Does anyone have step by step instructions?

All help is appreciated.

I like to use a wet sponge inside the paper to follow the contours evenly while wet sanding , and it's easier on the hands. I also like to follow that (while wet)  with an occasional a small sqweegee just to be sure that no spots were missed...if it's still shiny, it's missed. I like dish a touch of dish detergent too. Shaken not stirred.
