Topic: non responsive throttle

Hi, recently my throttle has no resistance. It just goes right to the full throttle position and it's not pumping out enough fuel to even start it. Is it likely that the throttle cables could have snapped or they somehow got disconnected? Can the cables be adjusted at all? Is it hard to replace the cables if needed? Thanks, any thoughts are appreciated.

could be broke in the twist part of the throttle.not real hard to change

Turn the throttle and see if the bell crank the part the cables attach to on the carbs is moving open and closed. If not you may have a snapped cable as noted in the throttle assy on the bars or down on the bell crank on the carbs.
It takes a little work to disassemble the switch and replace the cable(s) if that is what is needed. A service manual is a must for working on these older bikes. There may be a free download available from this site in the manuals section.

Thanks a lot guys, I appreciate the info. I'm kind of new to tinkering around with bikes. I'm more used to working on cars and helicopters when I was in the Navy. I'll look into the handle bar side first. I did notice a clicking sound coming from the handle bar when trying to turn it. It didn't make that sound before. I do hear something moving though underneath when I turn the handle. And I did notice one of the cables coming from the handle move a little bit when I turn the handle. I think it was the cable closet to the tank.
