Yeah those performance specs are pretty impressive even by today's standards.

Hdog, better have that thing pointed in the right direction before cranking open the throttle. Let me know how it stacks up to your GS1100 ;)

Well, just got back from a quick ride and fill-up. My first impression is that it is fast, not the lightening quick speed of my GS1100E, though. Surprisingly, it really is a comfortable ride, and I think the bars are adjustable, that may make it better, still. Obviously, the shaft drive is smooth and quiet. All in all, after the first run, I'm happy with the bike. I want to ease into testing it's speed, I'm not as young as I used to be...... lol!

I'll probably throw the stock seat back on, the Corbin is a nice fit, but the foam is hard as a rock.....

Here's a couple more pics, I quickly cleaned it up this morning with spray cleaner and a rag. It needs more cleaning, but it looks better than it did when I picked it up.

Plus here's a couple of the GS1100 all cleaned up for dhall.

Thanks for thinking of me with a few pics of the GS1100 and the matching lid. I dont care who you are that's one sharp looking bike 8)

Thanks. I saw the helmet on Ebay this winter and pulled the trigger. It's the one they gave away with the bike in '82. Inside foam is toast, but it's cool to have.

Bought the V65 from a guy in Illinois (5.5 hours, one-way). It was on Ebay, Bid once, was high bidder ($1,651.00), but reserve not met. He came back with a second chance offer of $1,850.00 and I declined it. He put it up again on Ebay, again, I was high bidder, $1,525.00 this time. He came back a day or so later with a second chance to buy at the $1,525.00 bid. I guess he was ready to let it go.
The seller is a Goldwing and CBX guy... about 18 bikes, total. He is getting rid of some of his "lower" end bikes and that's how I came to have it. I don't have any further history on it, other than he had it for a year or two.

Not mint, by any means, but very nice. Needs very little, mostly a day to get it super clean, it looks to have had mud or something all over it??? It does a pair of Kerker mufflers, sounds pretty nice, not loud, but "beefy".

Definitely needs a new front tire in the next few hundred miles, shows some minor weather checking. The rear looks fine. Maybe fork seals, the forks seemed really dirty above the seals, just have to see after riding some.

Had another project today, the cylinder head cover on the Wes Cooley was leaking, pulled it apart only to find out the gasket I ordered was the wrong one..... I hate it when that happens, have to order another, one more week before I can go for a ride.... good thing I have spare bikes.

Every bike I've had that came with a Corbin seat got replaced, they're overrated.  So I'm thinking the better comparison to a V65 Sabre like that would be a V-Max?  Always like those Honda V-4s, definitely a different ride than the GS1100E.  BTW, that was my very first bike, a 1983 GS1100E.  Didn't even have a license at the time, surprised I didn't hurt myself with that bike, lol!  Nice looking Sabre!

Cool find! especially in well cared for condition.  I have been really enjoying  my '86 VF500f Interceptor...kind of the Saber's friendly little nephew.  The V4 engine rips, and I am having a hard time imagining one over twice as big as my 500!

I'll be honest, the V65 seems pretty tame to me, I guess I am used to the Big Suzuki's. Nice bike, though.

The V500F is a nice-looking bike, also. It appears to have a fairly comfortable riding position, too.

tame would be anything but what I have heard about them...be careful because mine would outrun a cb550 when only running on two cylinders and was still so smooth that you could barely tell anything was wrong...Only know what I have heard but some carb and ignition doubleckecks might be in order.
the VF500f riding position is weird, semi upright, but a really small bike.  I am only 5'8" so I can deal with it, but it's kind of like riding a miniature, vintage AMA Superbike.  If you are over 5'10", I would expect to  very cramped.  The clincher for me is the ultra flickable, mega precise, effortless handling.  I have not ridden anything else like this.  Very competent brakes too.
If it works good, it looks good...

Let me get more time in on the V65. You guys gotta remember what I'm used to riding, 1982 GS1100EZ, fast as all get-out, pulls hard in all gears. When I leave my driveway on it, I can get up to 60 MPH in 3rd gear by the time I get to my neighbors driveway, .2 miles down the road, the whole time having to work to keep the front wheel on the road. The same with my Wes Cooley, only not so pronounced, maybe 50-55 MPH by the neighbor's drive. Both bikes I'm intimately familiar with...

The V65 didn't do that the other day, maybe it's just me holding back since it's an unfamiliar bike..... I'll be out this coming weekend putting it through it's paces.

OK! Now that's the kind of info we like to hear.  But 60 by third gear? Sounds like you are short shifting....ha!

I've always ridden on the conservative side, keeps my wife happy. But seriously, I like shifting.... otherwise I would have an automatic, right?

On the GS1100, I can take-off from a stop sign in 3rd gear, without stalling the bike, good for old guys like me who forget to downshift...LOL!
