what's it like running a 16 rear wheel - CB750
« on: October 02, 2014, 11:40:57 AM »
G'day
Just wondering what it is like to run a 16 inch rear wheel on a K2.
I have been hunting around for a set of Lesters for a while now.
I have the front but haven't had any luck finding a rear.  The only rears that I see are 16 inch.
I don't really like the look of the 16 but if it is my only option and guys who have run them reckon they are OK, then I guess I should consider it.
Thanks for your time
Scott

Unless you are a pseudo road racer, it's a lot like an 18". The tires are usually fatter and close to the same OD.  It's mostly looks.  I'm thinking a buddy is sitting on a rear disc lester but it's a 16 too.
No matter how many times you paint over a shadow, it's still there.

I have a Henry Abe 16 inch wheel and because I never rode my 750 with an 18 inch I can't help.  I will say like Don R says the diameters are similar.  I ride 86 GIXXER and a 05 SVS1000 and they all handle different, but I have no problems changing from bike to bike.

running a '82 kz750 rear disc 16 inch wrapped in a 130/90-16.  maybe 3/4" shorter overall than the 120/90-18 wrapped stock comstar
bike doesnt really feel any different to me

If putting round town you probably won't notice any difference, but if you like spirited riding through the twisties stay with the 18, far better selection of tires for the 18 over the 16... If you just want to cruise everywhere, go with what ever you want... ;)

Cool thanks heaps
I think I cruise more than pushing it through corners
So maybe I can get a 16 and see how it goes.  The bikes I have looked at with 16's seem to have a very fat tyre, or just not be a standard looking bike, like mine.
Have a good one
