76 CB750 - "Lavender" kill switch ???
« on: September 23, 2014, 08:23:51 AM »
What the heck...
We are trying to restore our K6 back to original showroom condition. We need to replace the right hand starter button switch and all we can find is after market switches with lavender kill switch on top instead of the red kill switch as original. Why are they making them lavender now???

If you don't buy one from Honda is your old switch nice enough to swap out?

Perhaps Honda has slapped the manufacturer with a copyright infringement since they still supply them also?!
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

Can you post a pic of yours or link to the lavender which I guess is more of a blueish or purplish red color ??  Curious on this one as I have not heard this complaint yet.

It's the chinese made honda replacement. I swapped my red button on mine, not sure, I might have used the old top casting with the old red button and new switches in it.

Here's a photo of the lavender kill switch they are selling now. The one I returned looked even worse in person. Unless I can find a good used right hand switch assembly, I guess my only option is to cobble together some of the parts from the old switch with some of the new.

I did re-use the old top with the new switch and the new bottom. I don't remember if the button didn't swap or if I just wanted to keep the original appearance.

It's Ok for me and my bike. It's more like purple.. look really good. Honda marked package, made in China and cables outside the handle bar version

I have another one from vintagecb750, its more brownish... like old fashion primer paint. I did not use this when its the US version. link above to eu version with light off, parking light, lights on as my bike's old switch

OK we are back in business (see photo)!
I couldn't find an OEM starter button assembly separate, so I had to buy the whole new right hand switch. They have changed the starter button design, so my Plan B of just switching out the starter button didn't work.  Plan C was to install the new right hand switch, but to replace the lavender kill switch with the original red kill switch. It took a little surgery with small tools, but I got it out. Thanks for all your help, on to the next challenge!

I got one too. Came in a Honda package with a Honda number but it says right on it "Made In China". Go figure. At least it works.

Duanob,
It's not difficult to replace the new lavender kill switch with the old red one, if it bothers you as much as it did me. Just be careful not to loose the small spring and metal ball that operate the kill switch.
