CB1100F shocks on a SOHC
« on: October 20, 2014, 05:34:16 PM »
Okay, i've been trying to find an adjustable shock with rebound tuning for my F model dragbike. Since the budget is tight, aftermarkets shocks are not an option for me. I got to looking at the CB1100F and CB900F rear shocks and they do have some rebound adjustments that could help soften the compression rebound when i launch my bike off the line. I have a new set of Cycle Ex shocks on the bike now but the stock style shocks do not offer the options i need. So, my question is; has anyone tried to use the DOHC shocks on their bike and did it help when the rebound was properly adjusted for their intended purpose. Yes, i do know that the DOHC shock is an inch longer than the SOHC shock. This is not a real issue for me as i can change the angle with my lower adjustable shock bracket to get my ride height where it needs to be.

Any feedback would be appreciated. I can get a used set from Ebay for less than $100 so it might just be worth a try over buying a $1000 set of aftermarket shocks.

Gday mate, not sure how the CB900 shocks would go on a drag bike but they weren't a good street shock, they heated up real quick and lost damping, they had FVQ sticker on the side that was affectionately referred to as "Fade Very Quickly"  ;D, I had a 900 and the first thing i did when i had the cash was replace those woeful shocks, the CB1100 shocks were better, the ones with the remote reservoir and more adjustment, they are longer than the stock 750 shocks by an inch or more, I would go the 1100 shocks if you can get them but just take into consideration that any shock that old would probably be far better off rebuilt.. ;) ...

If You can't fix it with a hammer, You've got an electrical problem.
