Keep them coming Steve. Any Suzuki examples ?   They were a little hard on the ole' cb750 on the Z1 article and the 'comments' at the bottom.

They were very hard on the CB, don't agree with most of it. 

Ok, Suzuki is next.  The GS1000 that Honda Dog has and just a mention of the GT750 and GT500 - guess they didn't do their research.

Well I got all 3 so far but don't have the Cooley paint, upside I guess is 16 pounds lighter.
 Next up I guess should be a Yammie XS1100 or Fj1100/1200.  They were the fastest in the class I believe when they hit. One of them is on my shopping list for my 'big dog' collection if I can find a nice one that still has a second gear left in it     They are heavy bruisers though at around 600lbs.

The dude that wrote the article on the Kawasaki really has no idea, so what if the Kawasaki looked better in his eyes, the Honda was the first superbike for the masses regardless of what he thinks.   The rest about racing is as uninformed as the rest of his rant, the Honda's are still blowing the doors off a lot of far bigger bikes, including his beloved Kawasaki's, just look at the cycleX bike or Rex Wolfendens bikes here in Australia, not many zeds around that even come close... That was mostly an "opinion" piece, devoid of any facts....  Oh and i'm not surprised that a 900 was faster than a 750....    I do like the Zeds Steve, just not his opinion...

I've read that article before, they need to expand their thinking, just a bit. Suzuki made some of the most coveted bikes in the late 70's and early 80's. As for the Cooley, 16 lbs. heavier, different tuning, better suspension, and way cooler than a "stock" GS1000. One of the best all-round bikes I've ever ridden.

Yeah, thanks Mick.  The stock bars aren't bad, the PO put these on and there in great shape so there staying.  I like the green too and will get resprayed the same color this winter.

The other advantage with the super bike bars is that they help put more weight over the front wheel...

and with THAT bike that's a REAL plus    a 20lb. sand bag on the front fender wouldn't hurt either !

When the xs 1100's first came out Yamaha sent factory reps to our town to investigate a possible product liability. Two from the same dealership had been reported with snapped drive shafts, and the company took notice.

The real story was two kids bought the brand new same bike, xs 1100, and proceeded to go wheleeing away after every stop sign  for the better part of a year.  It was harder treatment than the bike was designed for.

Yes, took delivery last week but just got it running yesterday.  No sandbag!

Has that ever been repainted Steve ? Looks original. Kawasaki had some crap paint though , especially the green on the 400's. I call mine the 'Grey Ghost' as the green has faded away to just the grayish silver basecoat except under the seat line. Have seen pics of others this same eery color. Few pics when working for the first start. Put about 70 miles on it before stashing it away.
   Have you posted how many miles your bike has on it yet ?  Definitely looks like a keeper

Don't think its been repainted, Eric. The paint still has a decent shine, but the tank is damaged on the right side and the metal sidecovers has some rust from the badges, so it will get repaint at some point.



The bike only has 4500 miles, the gauges are real clean, but not even close to being accurate.

It's a keeper!

I put 18 miles on it yesterday, running ok, but not a screamer....yet.

Bike came with a spare tank and I've considered buying other bodywork and painting it.
But, then I would just keep the original bodywork on the shelf? I would not put it back on and am not really concerned about value, no plans to sell, it's part of "The Collection"!
