So the little rubber gasket thingy that is just above the number 1 on this picture. I am banging my head against the floor trying to think of what search terms to even use to find one. Mine turned to dust as it was so old and brittle and dry.

Of course it's not a numbered part. I'm hoping I can find one.

CMSNL simply lists it as the harness. Apparently it comes with that piece already attached.

Here's the best I could do: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1974-HONDA-CB350F1-CB350-F1-HM738-ENGINE-STATOR-WIRE-HARNESS-WIRING-/351071312662?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item51bd7b1b16&vxp=mtr

Ugh, I'd hate to buy a whole new harness for that little piece of rubber.

Can't believe it's a part with no name.

You might have to get creative on that one.  I don't recall ever seeing just that little piece.  I know what you mean, those are always manged....

If you can't locate a replacement, I'd get creative and apply some black silicone sealant to mend/replace that rubber piece.  It must have been there to seal and hold the wires, and some liquid sealant could do the same when it solidifies.  Not sure of the location, but if its hided away then who but you would know the difference.

I bought a fairly big simple round grommet at an electronics store, then cut it and bent to to fit the wires and hole. Not perfect, but the hole doesn't have to be sealed - the area under the seal is basically open to the elements. The rubber is just to prevent chafing of the wire insulation, I think.

I agree-I always thought the purpose was to prevent chafing and prevent the starter wire from shorting to the frame...Larry

I think I might have to piece the grommet I have back together and reinforce it with some RTV.

I thought I had a spare alternator with the grommet but it is nowhere to be found...Larry
