Hi everyone. Im an 18 year old DJ, Music Producer, and engine lunatic from West Bend, Wisconsin. The reason for joining this forum is because of the new lady, the '78 CB750k. Previous members in the family include a 73 CB350 which I turned into a cafe racer, and an adopted barn find '76 CB200T with 3600 original miles, which i got for a 4 pack of monster because a friend of a friend of a friend saw my 350 build. the 200 will stay unmolested.
The 750, which is in the picture above was parked in running condition from a close friend's father about 20 years ago when they moved into their new house. it sat behind the shed along with retired dishwashers and concrete rubble. I bought it with a title knowing it was a big project with a seized engine for $150. The title and frame was worth that. Well just last Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving I stripped her apart, with the intention to rebuild the engine over the winter. This intro is beginning to sound like a project thread
oh well.
My intention with this bike is to build a cafe racer, with a very clean, simplistic look. I intend to relocate the oil tank, and all electronics and spend a considerable amount of time running wire and cable through frame tubing. Due to the time intensive task of dropping the motor I am considering designing the bottom frame half to drop out of the bike, as I intend to modify the engine over time, to be able to feel the changes and understand what I like and don't like. I *want (unsure if plausable) to reconstruct the upper spine after the headstock to follow the contour of the false fiberglass tank/body combo i want to fab, and mount a 2 section aluminum tank that I will fab with one section oil and one part gas. I hope to fit the electronics in the empty spaces around there, as well as in the butt stop in the rear. It also must be passenger compatible.
