Gouge on the head surface
« on: January 22, 2015, 10:52:59 AM »
So, I feel like this gouge should greatly concern me. I had to go back through pictures to see when this happened. I don't remember it but it seems to have occurred when a stud snapped. Head still needs to be decked and cleaned.

Am I right to be concerned? If so, is there anything I can do or have done to fix???

trying to picture where on the head this is. If that leads to the combustion chamber, that might be a problem.

just dress the burr and use a little hard setting gasket compound on that area.

Between 1 and 2 on top of the case.

Its where your sleeve, and its large o-ring sit.
Id also copper spray the base gasket.

Thanks Guys, was starting to freak a little. Getting into to areas where my knowledge is not as robust.

I think you'll be okay.  I did the same thing to mine trying to scrape off the head gasket - didn't affect the engine at all.

Like the other's say - fill it with a decent compound and dress it flat.
