This is Chris H. from San Rafael, CA

Thanks for letting me join. I am the new owner of 1976 Honda CB750A with 29,000 miles. Bike is pretty nice looking, runs pretty good, but has some small kinks that need to be worked out. I'm mechanically inclined but am noticing these bikes have their own little quirks that require getting very familiar with the service manual (which I've already done). Looking to meet new people in the area who are knowledgable about these bikes and are willing to accept payment to work on it to get it into its best running condition (valve adjustments, replace spark plugs, adjust/replace points, adjust timing, possibly clean/sync carbs, etc). I can bring the bike to you or you can come to the bike. Right now it has the 'idling high thing going on in neutral' that I'd like to work out. Other than that it's pretty well sorted. You can send messages to my member name 'Flowbrook1'. Also, it'd be nice to know where I can source some new carb intake boots. Seems like those parts are the most difficult to find. If you can't work on the bike but know someone in the Bay Area that can, it would be great if you could pass along that information. Thanks!

Welcome from Texas.   Youre doing good if a high idel is your only issue.

Once the bike is warmed up, set the idle to the spec in the manual [1300?]

If you dont have the manual, download off this site.

Good luck!

Also, make sure your Neutral Switch (light) is working, and the connectors are not corroded. This can make it hang in the hi-idle mode, too.

If you want that bike to run better than perfectly, look up mark Salvisberg in San Rafael.  He is a genius tuner who makes parts , has a dyno and all around good guy/ex sears point road racer

I recently restored and sold a 77 cb750f, and am nearly finished with a (former basket case) cb750k5.  This is a place to share, learn and enjoy.  I am grateful to and for 99+% of this site's membership.
