Sorce For Tapered Bearings For CB750
« on: February 10, 2015, 07:52:25 AM »
Anyone have a part number for the two cone bearings that fit the SOHC CB750?
Don't want to use AllBalls because I am told they use a special taper angle.

I have Timken races on my Seeley and need the cone roller bearings that would fit on the steering stem and ride in the races.

07100 and L45449 are old Timken numbers but I am told they no longer fit the Honda stem.
At this point I am willing to buy a complete kit if need to, just all of the ones I find are all balls.

There is no standard size bearing that fits. Years ago I bought Timken replacement steering head roller bearings for a CB750... but the measured size was not the size listed for the bearing number etched on the race: they had been ground to fit.
The All Balls ones I've seen look like a standard race angle, but I haven't measured them. Does it matter that much?

The complete upper bearing has part # H264815, which has a cone ID of 26mm, a cup OD of 48mm, and a height of 15mm.
The lower bearing has part # H305014, which has a cone ID of 30mm, a cup OD of 50mm, and a height of 14mm. Hmm, there seems to be a pattern here? ;D
Do a search for those part numbers and you should find multiple sources. Jag, it might be worth a shot to see if the H264815 cone would mesh with the Seeley 7200 cup? ???
Don't fix it if it ain't broke!

The Seeley frame uses the same lower cup as stock; it's only the upper cup that's different, perhaps because a 48mm OD race would have dropped right through the thin wall steering neck tube?

That's what I have been told.
