CB 350F Petcock/Carb clearance
« on: February 18, 2015, 03:38:09 PM »
I purchased this '74 350F recently and realized the petcock likes to rub the carburetor.  I've seen posts in the archives about different years of bikes having tanks fit slightly different.  Any suggestions for a fix?  Both front and rear rubber mount seem decent.  Frame looks straight.  I've just been using cardboard as a shim to try and keep it separated.  Here's a few pictures..... Yes, it was originally blue.  PO painted it red.  Looks pretty good and I look at it multiple times a day.

I can't say that I know there was a different petcok, but the 400f might be smaller. I would think they are the same.  Is the  rear tank rubber in place? It should fit.

Nice looking bike. The mythical blue color is actually a sunbleached Bacchus Olive undercoat color, a forum member pointed out.

I found a small piece of foil tape that was on my blue 350f and aparently it had been on it since new and sure enough it was green.

If your 350F is a 1974 model, then the original color would likely have been "Glory Blue Black Metallic", which appears to be a black color to most observation.  This was the only color available with that year's model, and it was the only model that Honda ever produced with that specific color.  Your side-panel emblem that is shown is from a 1974 model, as that year had orange for the "Four" with white for the "350".  The other two earlier years had those colors reversed.

Thanks.  I'll have to make sure its sitting far enough forward.  Its sitting on all rubber mounts and there is little clearance with the wheel at full turn.  It seems to be as far as it will go but I'll fiddle with it some more.

I have some of the original pictures before the previous owner did some restoration and the panels were originally blue.  You can even see the dark color showing up under the red paint on them now.  Although its only noticeable when standing next to it.  The tank looked black but that was after it was weathered a lot.

Sorry If this is posted more than once.  I was getting an error code when I originally was posting and it never showed up in the forum at the time.  Now it appears multiple times.  Probably what I get for initially using my cell phone.

Nice ride.

Something is up with the rear position of the tank...doesn't look right. Make sure its seated correctly inside the rubber block at the back, ahead of the seat
