350f speedo help
« on: April 21, 2015, 04:48:33 PM »
So I finally took my wife's 350 for a ride as it's finally done.

Video is just showing off the bike.

I noticed that the speedometer goes up to 20 mph and no further. And when you slow down it only goes down to 10 mph until the bike sits for a while. So it's shot. What model bikes would have a drop in solution to replace it? I'm guessing the 400f would be the same? I'd also be afraid that some old speedometer coming off some non runner would be likely to be bad. And of course the mileage would be off. (The current speedo is original based on the mileage on the title).

Or can these be opened and fixed? Watching the 750 faces videos I'm sure it would be a challenge.

Thanks.

the cable is brand new and spins fine when the front wheel turns. It goes up to 20 mph just like it should, it just goes no further.

What does "Servicing/rebuilding" entail?

CAble all the way down to the wheel works great.

When I spin the speedo with a drill at full drill speed it slowly creeps up to 10 MPH and then when I stop it slowly drifts back down.

If I could open the speedo up I guess I could try to clean and lube it.

Well I watched Marcel's video and opened it up. The cylinder that moves the needle was covered with some clear goop which I wiped off and I got the needle moving back and forth.

Now my cheap cordless drill gets the speedo to 38 MPH nicely when at full speed - anyone know if 38 MPH is correct for a drill?

What and where should I lube?
