Backwards valve guides
« on: May 11, 2015, 10:52:13 AM »
Check the photo.  So, I was going to check the springs, tolerances, and lap the valves today in my non-running 1972 CB750 which I have been slowly rebuilding.  Took an intake valve assemble apart and everything looked good.  Cleaned it up, and went on to the exhaust valve.  Had a wtf moment and took all the springs and valves out for a gander at them all...

They are not "backwards". The early models did not have seals on the exhaust guides.

Ah, good to know!  My manual (for early Ks) shows the exhaust guides the other way around with seals.  Perhaps the image is just a generic one used for mid series Ks?
