Topic: How do i get the Piston fron the Master Cyl Bore??

Hi All

 I am trying to rebuild a master cylinder from a 1978 750F, I can't seem to get the piston out free from the bore.  Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?  It is not seized in, it will move in and out, I just can convince it to release itself.

did you get the internal circlip out?  My recollection is that after you remove the
circlip it should just pull straight out.  I also seem to recall that removing the circlip
was a real pain with actual circlip pliers, and i had to modify a surgical hemostat to
get something long-nosed enough to reach the holes.

After you sware and curse long enough, and if you get desperate (I did) try these, you can get them at Sears. The smaller of the two is the one that fits as I recall.

I bought the pliers at Sears, but it turns out I still couldn't get both ends of the circlip.  I took the pliers apart, and used a screwdriver to hold one end of the circlip in place.  With one half of the pliers, and my screwdriver, I was able to get the circlip out.  Took me several days the first time I disassembled it, around an hour the second time, and under 5 minutes the third time.

Try using an engineers scriber (used to mark lines on metal). Pry one end of the circlip out & the rest will follow.

Thats how I did it, and it worked wonders.
